An ethical alternative to a popular style, this classic high-top sneaker is made with 100% Fair Trade-certified organic cotton canvas upper and tough rubber sole.
The sole is produced and stamped with FSC-certified* all natural and sustainable latex. The rubber was actually tapped from a tree in a well managed and growing forest instead of being made from chemicals like other rubber products.

FSC is short for Forest Stewardship Council. The FSC is an international non-profit organization that maintains and manages the world’s forests that are used for paper, wood and other pulp production. An FSC-certified forest ensures that the harvest of products is environmentally responsible and respects the natural eco-system of the forest.
An added bonus is that no indigenous wildlife or people to the forest are displaced or harmed as is usually the case with traditional forestry practices. So rather than clear-cutting and polluting, FSC products have helped the long-term life of the forest and in the process have created more energy to offset the current carbon crisis.
Our use of the FSC is still quite unique. Most rubber these days is man-made in a factory out of chemicals. The rubber used in the soles of our sneakers is the old fashioned kind, all natural that is tapped from a tree like Maple syrup. And of course, the trees used to source our rubber are all FSC-certified, so our sourcing is not harming the eco-system!
